Loss Is Difficult On Your Own

By a Supportive Pilot

These last few months have provided ample opportunity for reflection and self growth. Loss is a very difficult thing to process on your own. One of the things that has really helped me stay focused and motivated is how fortunate I am to still have a job as a pilot in these difficult times.

There’s satisfaction that the work I am doing is contributing to humanitarian efforts in countries that need it most right now, and that I can continue to learn and improve my skillset. Feeling very humble and appreciative, especially of the wonderful people I currently have in my life. No more room for people and relationships that don’t foster openness, honesty, that don’t help me to grow, and show compassion when it’s needed.

This photo was taken in El Fashir, Sudan during a time where I felt less than great about my personal life. I try to keep only positivity online but it’s important to be honest and to show up for ourselves and also our friends when they need it. Pay attention, ask questions – you never know what they’re silently fighting. Ready to start my tour here in Uganda now, with a fresh outlook on life.
