Everywhere Except Aviation

It’s become acceptable everywhere to have an open discussion about your mental health. Everywhere except for the commercial aviation industry. I cannot bring to mind a single other field that moves slower when it comes to change, and spreading awareness by having this conversation is the only way to invoke positive change.

An industry that emphasizes so much the importance of safety has done itself and its workforce a great disservice by ignoring inherent difficulties presented by an extremely unique way of life. Compounding this with the inability to voice frustrations or feelings, at the cost of one’s career, is very UNsafe.

We will need patience, but we must demand change. Keep it up, it starts with us.

Pilot

What is your favorite quote?

“Once you have experienced flight, you will forever walk the Earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”
